Functions

Uniqual has as its objective the evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance within the Basque University System, taking into account the European and international framework.

Uniqual is responsible for:

• The evaluation, accreditation and quality assurance of activities and programmes and the evaluation and quality assurance of course contents prior to their approval, as well as any subsequent modifications. The issuing of reports in accordance with the Basque University System Act 3/2004, 25th February for the contracting of teaching and research faculty by the state university, evaluating their merits.

• The issuing of reports relating to the contracting of readers/lecturers and the evaluation of the teaching and research activity of the faculty of private universities. The evaluation of teaching, research and administrative merits for the purposes of assigning the salary complements established for the teaching and research faculty of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in Article 34 of the Basque University System Act 3/2004, 25th February.

• The evaluation of individual merits of both tenure (permanent government employee) and non-tenure teaching faculty in all those activities aimed at incorporating the Basque language effectively into university activities, especially those such as the preparation and administration of teaching materials, scientific publication and social extension of research activity and specialised glossaries.

• Evaluation of research quality.
